Unlike other incubators/​accelerators/​investors, Moon has a diverse group of talent that can think creatively through a challenge or a new opportunity. We bring that innovative thought process to bear in our investment decisions.


We are interested in pre-seed to growth-stage startups in any industry that we, at Moon, can uniquely help grow and expand. We are especially interested in startups that:

• Add synergistic value to our existing portfolio and with the wider Mitsui Group.
• Want to expand their geographic reach, especially from the U.S. to Japan/AP and Japan/AP to the U.S. 
• Need hands-on support from designers, engineers, product experts, and marketers to advance their business.

Moon holds its Demo Day where ventures pitch for funding twice a year (Spring/​Fall) following the conclusion of Moon’s three-month incubation program, Boost.

Ventures participating in Boost may be invited to pitch after the conclusion of the program.


Moon may invite other ventures (not in Boost) to participate in Demo Day at its discretion. Moon may also choose to invest in ventures outside of the Demo Day pitch event depending on the fundraising needs of qualified startups.

All investment decisions are subject to the completion of the Moon Investment Committee’s due diligence, background checks, and Moon's and Mitsui's internal approval processes.

Moon will continue to provide startups in our portfolio support and guidance post-Demo Day.



Moon invests in pre-seed, seed, and growth stage companies. The amount of funding that Moon invests in depends on a number of factors, including the stage of the company.
