We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and talented Human Resources Business Partner for our Tokyo Studio. You will partner with the Palo Alto /​ Tokyo HR team members to ensure smooth HR operations, accelerate and develop our talent, create an engaging and inclusive team environment, and drive initiatives to improve the employee experience. You will serve as the point of contact for the business to assess organizational needs across talent management, performance management, and career development. In addition, you will implement global initiatives and propose practical solutions in compliance with Moon policies and Japanese law. You will demonstrate flexible and effective communication skills, operational planning ability, empathy, curiosity, and inclusion

What You’ll Do at Moon 

  • Drive HR events such as compliance and policy related implementations

  • Lead and manage immigration and labor management

  • Review and analyze data for trends, dig into the numbers and partner with the business to derive action plans around performance, retention, and employee engagement

  • Provide HR advice and support for Moon founders when they are launching their new entities into the market

  • Think Big. How do we help our business simplify to scale and move faster?

  • Be Right, a Lot. Take different perspectives and business needs, develop a solution that works, and move the ball forward. Support your opinions with sound reasoning grounded in the business and data.

  • Earn Trust. Build relationships with people across the Moon organization

  • Communicate. Be able to communicate ideas, data, and thoughts well both verbally and written. Be comfortable challenging ideas and holding space for other perspectives to be heard

  • Work with the Finance and Operations teams for smooth company operations

  • Enhance employee culture and engagement within the Tokyo Studio and across all of Moon

  • Assist with HR initiatives to support Diversity & Inclusion throughout the organization including the roll out action plans and guide leaders regarding mentorship, development, and promotion of diverse employees

  • Be Flexible and embrace ambiguity. Be willing to pick up anything as a team or pivot to something new when needed

The Must-Haves 

  • Minimum of 8 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a role that has blended general HR (employee relations, performance management, engagement, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience

  • Bilingual Fluency of Japanese and English both written and verbal

  • Strong understanding of Japanese labor laws and regulations

  • Experience working with a cross-cultural/​international organization or working directly with Western companies

  • An entrepreneurial mindset, ready to take on tasks outside of role with strong agility to change and to be flexible/​resilient

  • Experience working with high growth technology teams

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner at all levels of organization to achieve results

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Exceptional listening skills and communication skills

  • Ability to source, interpret, and use data to tell a story and influence decision makers

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

The Nice-to-Haves 

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Slack

  • Experience in HR transformation and implementation of core values

  • Experience in the adaptation of working style to fit the needs of the teams
